Conversations Sur Lettres Mortes is a project by Jesse OsborneLanthier and Grischa Lichtenberger first realized for Mutek / Elektra 15 in 2014 at the MAC in Montréal, QC Canada. Now channeled into an EP for Cosmo Rhythmatic, the music on the record was generated using various cathode ray television sets and VHS units operated by Osborne Lanthier and Lichtenberger.

Their approach is both childlike and holistic, choosing not to exploit the novelty of unusual sound sources, but rather experimenting by toying with obsolescence and commodity fetishism. Tinkering with the artifacts in such ways allows them to subvert their functionality, leading to learning and direct creative action; building sonic spaces in which rhythm is set to contort, fragment and scatter.

By stimulating desire for inorganic sound bodies, the duo generates a virtual scenario revealing the mechanics of reality; its ecology intense, complex and unstable.

The EP comes with remixes by likeminded explorers: Low Jack charges his track with storming breakbeat energy akin to the ventures of his album on Modern Love, Hungarian extremist Gabor Lazar taints the fragmented beats with his own signature palette and Tri Angle affiliate Rabit arms each sound with cybernetic prosthetics that draw from evolved grime and hardcore.
